History and Staff of Automotive Supply Center
Automotive Supply Center began in 1956 by two brothers Kazuichi and Hayato Okino. Automotive Supply Center consisted of three full-time and two part-time employees on Piopio Street which ran well until, May 1, 1960 when a tsunami destroyed their building. This forced their business to move to a newer location further inland, re-opening the following year in the Kanoelehua Industrial Park area. Thanks to the support of loyal customers in Hilo and the surroundings cities. The demand for Automotive Supply Center’s service and larger inventory, forced Automotive Supply Center to expand and once again relocate to their current address of 411 E Kawili St., in 1996.
Today, Peter Okino and his son Darin Okino and a Staff of about 35+ employees currently manages Automotive Supply Center which includes 3 separate warehouses which is thriving strong and is still currently expanding. Locally based in Hilo, they continue to serve customers throughout the whole Big Island of Hawaii. Peter attributes the success of Automotive Supply Center to his knowledgeable staff, many of which are recruited from the local Community Colleges Auto Body and Auto Repair Programs. Some of his employees even have over 30 years of experience.
Automotive Supply Center wants to thank their loyal customers for their many years of patronage and for helping them to continue to challenge themselves daily. This creates a better experience for each customer in providing outstanding customer service along with a great inventory selection and competitive pricing for the convenience and satisfaction of all their customers.
